Dunning–Kruger effect

In our day to day, we can also make mistakes due to lack of experience and overestimating our abilities.

Errors are not negative, and we should not run away from them, but we can turn them into learning tools, but it is not necessary to continuously stumble over the same stone as it reaches a point where it becomes frustrating.

In fact, we must keep an eye out for this cognitive bias because incompetence and lack of self-criticism will not only lead us to the wrong conclusions, but will also lead us to make poor decisions that end up harming us.

This means that, in some cases, the responsibility for the “failures or errors” that we experience throughout life does not fall on others or is the fault of bad luck, but depends on our poor self-evaluation.

To minimize the Dunning-Kruger effect and not become that person who has an opinion about everything without having a clue, the most important thing is to apply these simple rules:

—Be aware of at least the existence of this cognitive bias.

—Always leave a space for doubt, for different ways of thinking and doing things.

—Always give your opinion with respect for others, no matter how sure you are of your opinion, do not try to impose it.

We must remember that no one is an expert in all areas of knowledge and areas of life, we all have shortcomings and ignore many things. Therefore, it is best to face life from humility and with the attitude of the apprentice.
